Professor David Williams, Director of the Geotechnical Engineering Centre within the School of Civil Engineering at The University of Queensland (Australia), visited the LIFE RIBERMINE site in Peñalen on 21st of July, 2023. David has more than 40 years of teaching, research and consulting experience in mine waste management and mine rehabilitation and closure. Mostly, he is one of the major world experts in tailings dam’s stability. David was totally impressed by the stability of the Santa Engracia geomorphic-based restoration. He confirmed that he will spread this successful example all over the world, at his many visits to countries all over the world, as well as at his teaching on Mine Waste Management at the University of Queensland (Australia).
