On 4 May, Thomas Baumgartl (Federation University, Australia) gave a lecture at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid on the effects and consequences of surface mining and how to mitigate them, giving an example from Australia.
On 5 May, a visit was made to the LIFE RIBERMINE project in Peñalén, with Thomas Baumgartl, and 6 participants from URBAN CM and Montepino, and the environmental consultancy IRATI, accompanied by part of the LIFE RIBERMINE team.
The interest of the participants is to transfer these Geomorphological Remodelling Techniques to the areas of Civil Engineering and Urbanism.
