On 26 October 2023, David Williams, Professor of Geotechnical Engineering, University of Queensland, (Australia) held a seminar at the Faculty of Geological Sciences of the UCM. The seminar, organized in the framework of the LIFE RIBERMINE project, included two lectures: “Tailings dam failures have one thing in common – “Marginal stability”! – We can do better” and “Repurposing of the Genex Kidston mine site in Queensland, Australia”. The seminar was attended by about 40 people, including Master’s students from different countries and lecturers from the Faculty of Geological Sciences. The seminar was also streamed to 24 people.
