On 4th May, a lecture was given by Thomas Baumgartl (Federation University, Australia) at the Complutense University of Madrid, on the effects and consequences of surface mining, and how to mitigate its effects, with examples from Australia.

The following day, 5th May, a field trip was made to the LIFE RIBERMINE project in Peñalén, with Thomas Baumgartl, and 6 other participants from the civil engineering and urban planning companies URBAN CM and Montepino and the environmental consultancy IRATI, accompanied by part of the LIFE RIBERMINE team.
The interest of the consultants and the civil engineering and town planning companies is to transfer the Geomorphological Remodelling solutions to civil engineering and town planning.
